HOW DOES OUR FUNERAL POLICIES WORK?

Premiums must be paid punctually every month before or on the 7th of each month. The cover is provided on a month to month basis and no cover is available on overdue premiums. Should the premiums be in arrears for longer than 60 days (2 months), the policy will lapse.

WHO CAN I PUT ON MY FUNERAL POLICY ?

You can decide whom you want to cover, we cover single people as well as families, or, if need be you may also add extended family members to your policy.

HOW DO I KNOW WHICH POLICY TO TAKE OUT?

By talking to one of our agents, we would first discuss what you can afford to pay for a funeral policy. Then we will take a look at who it is that you want to ensure on your policy. And lastly, we will offer our products and decide on the one which best fits your needs.

How do I take out a funeral policy?

We simply need your name, surname and ID Number, then visit one of our branches, or contact us, to discuss which policy would fit your needs.

Is it single cover or family cover?

We offer both single and family cover funeral policies.

Can I upgrade my funeral policy?

Yes, you may upgrade your funeral policy at any time.

Do you have joining fee?

No, at Micfin you only pay your monthly premium, there are no joining fees.

What is a waiting period?

A waiting period is a period of time, usually 6 months as standard, where the cover amount will not be paid out in the event of death due to natural causes. For more information on our waiting periods, please visit our “Rules and Regulations” page.

Do I have to pay at one of your branches?

Although we do like to interact with each one of our clients on a personal basis, we do understand that not everyone can visit one of our branches, thus we do offer debit order payment structure as well as EFT payment options as well.

What happens in the event of a claim?

We would either request the beneficiary to bring in the required documents, or to email them to our email address.

What is the timeline for you to pay out a claim?

MicFin strives to EFT your money as soon as we receive all the required documentation, but one must realize that it does take time for the money to reflect in your account – thus we can safely say that the money will be paid over to you within 48 hours – excluding weekends and public holidays.

If my child is over 21 can we still add them onto our policy or must they take out their own policy?

Yes , you can add your children on the policy as a Extended Member/s.
